BRONZE DIPPERS: five problems losing THEIR LUSTER?

film as well as series announcements can spur the market, as well as that undoubtedly implies inflated prices. While an problem can ended up being the flavor of the month overnight, those higher costs can suggestion the scales against a key’s popularity in quick succession.

Listed below are five problems that have taken a considerable decrease in general sales in the past month. They are noted by their present positions as of November 19 on the most popular Comics for the Bronze Age listing complied with by the number of areas lost.

17. MOON KNIGHT #1 (-13)

The market can be fickle, as well as collectors have obviously had their fill of Moon Knight. A month ago, this was a top-five Bronze Age seller. just as rapidly as it increased to stardom, Moon Knight #1 has fallen outside the top 10. Of course, wait up until Disney+ has a trailer for the Moon Knight live-action series, as well as this problem will increase again.

42. tomb OF DRACULA #10 (-25)

The very first appearance of Blade will stay a force in the collector’s market, however that doesn’t imply it isn’t prone to the occasional decrease now as well as again. much of this can be credited to the inflated fair market values after a Blade film reboot was revealed last year. As we’re seeing with the Moon Knight keys, those high costs are off putting to collectors.

65. DEVIL DINOSAUR #1 (-30)

Along with Moon Knight as well as Blade, Devil Dinosaur’s very first appearance benefited greatly from this past summer’s D23. during Marvel’s showcase at the expo, Devil Dinosaur was slated to ended up being an animated series on Disney+. Initially, that led to high sales for both Devil Dinosaur as well as Moon Girl’s very first appearances, however collectors as well as investors have been backing away from Devil Dinosaur #1 in the past month. Being that it’s animated, the series won’t effect sales as much as it would if it were online action. Still, if the animation is a hit, this problem will bounce back.

82. marvel spotlight #28 (-56)

The second Moon Knight problem on the list, as well as it occurs to be his very first solo adventure. As collectors shift away from Moon Knight, once again I lean toward escalating costs as the culprit for its autumn in popularity. As I recommended with Moon Knight #1, don’t worry if you are holding onto your copy of marvel spotlight #10. By the time Marvel/Disney release the very first trailer, investors will be falling over themselves for anything Moon Knight. My guidance at this point is to hang tight as well as be patient. However, if you are wanting to buy, don’t expect this problem to get any type of less expensive up until after the series premieres as well as the hype uses off.

89. WHAT IF…? #10 (-41)

I continue to suggest that What If…? #10 is the very first appearance of Thordis, not the Goddess of Thunder (which you can checked out much more about in “What If…#10 Isn’t the very first appearance of the Thunder Goddess,” however I digress). This past summer, What If…? #10 as well as Thor #1 were two of the most popular comics on the market. just like many other problems on today’s list, the investment ended up being as well expensive. If you paid one of the elevated prices, don’t despair; everybody will get thrilled about this problem once again when the marvel hype device gears up for the new Thor movie.

COMIC book news

Okay, so I just have to lead with this before the break.  Over at Kickstarter, you can help a group of indie (mostly online creators who are relatively unknown) comic book creators launch a one-sho

t comic consisting of 13 4-8 page stories based on…Smiths songs.

Wow.  Wild idea. It’s like a comic book version of music videos.

Hit the break for news.

THE walking DEAD.  Episode one, season two will be 90 minutes.  The first seven eps of the season will run beginning October 16th, the second run of six eps will begin February 12.  There’s also discussion of an unscripted show called “Secret Stash” produced by comic book fan Kevin Smith that will be filmed in his comic book store.

Here’s the walking Dead trailer:

WARREN  ELLIS ON secret AVENGERS.  I bailed on secret Avengers after issue #3.  It was awful.  and I’m a huge Ed Brubaker fan.  but the Bru is gone, and Warren Ellis has returned to marvel to take over the series for one story arc featuring Valkyrie, war Machine, a stupendous John Cassaday cover and interior work by Kev walker that, frankly, is some of the best he’s ever done.  I’m not getting it in loosie, but I damn sure expect to snatch that trade up.  It looks hot as hell.

SPIDER ISLAND…DOESN’T SUCK!   In these days of concern Itself and Flashpoint, this may be damning with faint praise, but the Spider Island event is much better than any event I can think of from the past 12-24 months.  Way, way, wayyyyy better than Shadowland.  I’m actually diggin’ it.  and I laughed out loud, twice, at the last issue (particularly when J.J. Jameson learns that Peter Parker is one of the Spider Men).  great stuff.  It didn’t need all the useless build up just to stretch so it could start with amazing Spider-Man #666, but all is forgiven now.  I haven’t gotten any of the tie-ins yet…But the Avengers one is on my pull list.  It features Squirrel girl for Crissake.  how could I not pull it?

OTHER UPCOMING marvel stuff worth NOTING: Nick Spencer rebooting utmost Comics X-Men; Brian Michael Bendis’ Daredevil: end of Days mini; utmost Hawkeye by Jonathan Hickman (don’t see how this can suck); and Garth Ennis’ return to marvel MAX, writing Nick Fury.

NEW GARTH ENNIS BOOK.  Dude isn’t busy enough, what with planning to return to MarvelMAX and writing The Boys—one of the most consistently unusual (and hilarious) books on the market?  guess not.  He’ll be writing “Stitched” for Avatar press starting in November 2011.  Avatar really only invests in good comics—so this must be another one.  Art will be by Mike Wolfer.   It’s a war/horror books– American and British commandos stranded in Afghanistan battling the Taliban and something that looks either like zombies or aliens.  Or both.  Coooooool.  Note: This is the comic that was attached to Ennis’ short film, which debuted at San Diego Comicon this year.  So, he’s lookin’ for a buyer, I guess, and the comic may simply be a automobile to sell a film.  Not that there’s (necessarily) anything wrong with that—Mark Millar seems to have produced high quality comics with same end in mind (Kick Ass, Wanted).

RIDDICK 3.  Yeah, it ain’t a comic book motion picture per se, but Pitch Black was a really good sci fi/horror flick—and it’s Vin Diesel’s best work.  The sequel sucked.  So the third one, which is filming ideal now in Canada, has to redeem the franchise….

EXPENDABLES 2.  Arnold Shwarzenegger and Bruce Willis have agreed to appear in the sequel in meatier roles, and rumor has it Jean-Claude Van Damme will appear as well.  Van Damme famously told Stallone to stuff the first movie, predicting it would be a miserable failure.  You’d think if any individual could spot failure, it’d be Van Damme…Also possibly in the cast: Chuck Norris, Donnie Yen, John Travolta., and returning castmembers Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, and Terry Crews.   Due out August 17, 2012.

THE AVENGERS MOVIE.  and we’re back to comic book movies…Joss Whedon confirms that agent Paulson will not be dying in the film.  It’s kind of annoying how much info is leaking from the filming.  let us have some surprises, please.  If you dig around, you can find out a lot about the final scene of the movie.  I’m not republishing it here.

LAST OF THE INDEPENDENTS.  Matt “Marvel Architect” fraction and Kieron “amazing artist” Dwyer’s old and out of print early work “Last of the Independents” is set to be reprinted under the icon label.  It’s a crime story.  I never read it, but I’ve heard lots of good things about it—it was one of the things that drew marvel to hire Fraction.

GREEN RIVER KILLER.  Dark horse released a 240-page true crime OGN by a journalist whose daddy was a detective who worked the infamous green River killer case for 20 years—and eventually captured the killer (who has three names, of course: Gary Leon Ridgway).  The content was based on transcripts and real-life evidence produced in the case.  It looks amazing—albeit dense and tough (emotinull

Comic films opening This Weekend, October 19

You’ve most likely heard that 30 Days of night is opening this weekend, based on the comic franchise of the exact same name. (10-Second Comic Review: smart concept, paled quickly, many unforgettable to me since I offered my original miniseries copies on ebay for over $100.) film evaluations are around the board, with horror fans seeming much much more charitable than those from the general audience. I won’t be seeing it.

What am I thinking about seeing, if it concerns my area when it opens nationwide in two weeks, is Wristcutters: A like Story, because it’s based on the exact same source material as Pizzeria Kamikaze, a graphic book I enjoyed. The NY Times evaluation is intriguing, too.

MARK ADAMS-Panjanatan

An album that name-checks The huge Liebowski, has a tune about off-shore drilling on Mars, as well as a ballad asking a woman to be “his habit” as well as “come on as well as get hold of it” can’t be bad, can it?

No, it can’t.

Panjanatan is a witty, regularly shifting record that combines quirky electronica with “real” instrumentation to produce a unique, interesting sound. It makes me believe he need to be excellent live.

RIYL: Beck, Wilco’s experimental period,Jonathan Coulton.
